Detour

Hello! It's a beautiful Sunday morning and the river is flowing!! This is Marygrace logging on to inform everyone of the detour tomorrow!! As you can see in the picture above there is a one lane tunnel connected to a one lane bridge that you drive through to get to Hazelbaker's. Tomorrow, August 4th, the bridge will be closed! But don't worry, if you were thinking about canoeing Monday we have some alternate directions for you!

From Pittsburgh headed down 51 South

  • Make a left onto 981 North at the second light passed the I-70 interchange
(follow signs to Linden Hall form here)
  • Go 2 miles to Smithton
  • Go RIGHT onto 2nd Street towards Jacob’s Creek (go past Old Stoney’s Brewery/Jones Bottling; road follows river)
  • Stay on that road 1.7 miles to Post Office St
  • Go up hill, over the hill, and through the fields for about 5 miles from Jacob’s Creek
  • Make a sharp RIGHT turn onto Layton Rd. –NO street sign- look for Hazelbaker’s sign
  • Go downhill and over railroad tracks
  • Hazelbaker’s is a little blue building on the left!

We hope everyone can find their way!! Please don't hesitate to call if you get lost!

Gone Fishin'!

Hey! Marygrace down here at Hazelbaker's logging on to tell you about the river today. We had some rain last night so the river is moving a little more quickly and is a little murky. I anticipate a clear river by tomorrow. As you can see on the left, the fishing is great on our end of the river. The pictures were sent in by Rick and

Dave. Pretty good cathes for the '08 season! Tomorrow's foecast is a high of 81 degrees and partly cloudy.
